If you are struggling and cannot afford to buy enough food for yourself or your family please visit or contact one of the local food banks and/or contact the local Welfare Support Team. Food banks organise and distribute parcels of donated food, toiletries, cleaning products and household items to individuals and families every week. They seek to help those that find themselves in times of real hardship by addressing their most basic of needs – food and household items. There are various food banks in and around Shrewsbury:
- Rea Valley Food Bank – see also this flyer (PDF)
- Barnabas Community Projects Centre in Longden Coleham
- The Lantern in Sundorne.
If you would like some more help and advice on accessing foodbanks please ring reception and ask to speak to either one of our Social Prescribers, or our Community & Care Coordinator.
If you would like to donate to the Foodbank you can do this via most local supermarkets or the practice is happy to receive goods and pass them on to the foodbanks for you. Alternatively you can donate via The Trussell Trust, The Shrewsbury Food Hub, The Barnabas Centre or the Rea Valley Food Bank.
